aww, shucks!

It was a jam-packed weekend about a month ago.

On Friday we headed up to Sebastopol to have a nerd session with Scott and Sarah. We all researched 3 of the state's 12 propositions and discussed the pros and cons of each. It feels so good to go to the polls informed (even if when you get there and they can't find your name on the list even though you'd voted 2 times before at the same polling place and then you have to fill out a provisional ballot that you slip into this giant grey plastic suitcase which is most likely never even opened but they give you a slip of paper with a phone number to call in 28 days to see if your ballot was counted...nope, I'm not bitter about this).

It was such a bittersweet election here in California....people dancing in the street for Obama and tears and anger brimming for a constitutional change that takes away the rights of some of our dearest friends.

On Saturday, our friend Sean suggested we head up the coast to shuck some oysters, enjoy the sun, and celebrate his wife Victoria's birthday. Sarah, Scott, Devin, and I spent the morning preparing some delicious sauces, salads, and cupcakes for the festivities.

Mmm...oysters. I ate 2. Sarah ate 2. Scott ate 32.

Shucking

We high-tailed it from the coast to the city on Saturday evening so that we could make it to see some rock n' roll. Sarah's brother's band (Hustler Van) was having their debut performance at a club in San Francisco. They rocked some sweet covers and Sarah and I even got to talk to the lead singer when he came out into the crowd during the performance!

Sarah's brother being all rock-star.

It's the lead singer!!!

Self-portrait group shot (scott, kate, devin, sarah, and paul...nice shirt, paul!)

Paul and Jacquie take a break from the rock and roll for a quick pose.

This is devin's face in all of our self-portrait shots. I love it.
