happy new year!

See ya '08...'09 is gonna be just fine.

A red-eye flight got us to the east coast on Christmas eve morning. A town car and chauffeur were waiting for us curbside which was quite a pre-Christmas treat. (Thanks, kevin!)

Our holidays with the families were mellow. Some new traditions and some old ones. LOTS of Wii playing (and mysteriously our Wii is now on the fritz...I think we'll be contacting those Nintendo nuts to get it replaced or fixed) and LOTS of card playing. We bumped into a couple of friends in Connecticut and PA (great to see you Bob, Neha, and John!), but mostly we enjoyed some good QT with the families.

Kate and Matt watching Papa (devin's grandpa) open some goodies on Christmas. It was Papa's 91st Christmas!

Matt was the first to sink a shot into the Christmas fire paper barrel.

Devin is jealous of Aiden's sunglasses that aren't from the gas station and that aren't broken or lost.

Grammy and kate making meat candy.

Meat candy: Lil' smokies wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar and then baked until the bacon is cooked. Mmmmmmm.

Aiden and betty (kate's mom) trying to decipher grammy's drawing during a hot game of pictionary. dog! cat! a dog eating a cat! dinosaur!

This was grammy's go-to face and hand gesture after about 10 seconds of drawing. After about 20 seconds, she'd cheat and resort to charades. Pictionary with grammy is AWEsome!

The Rowan, Aiden, Tearson triple-decker family pose.

kate and betty saying good riddance to 2008!

We had a wild and crazy New Year's. Devin worked that night and I fell asleep at 11:00. We've never been huge fans of New Year's so I was perfectly content to be woken at midnight by the countdown chants of our neighbors and then to immediately fall back asleep.

What we DO like about the New Year is making goals. We're not resolution people. We set goals all year round and they change according to what we notice ourselves complaining about but not actually DOING anything about. Here's a sampling of our goals for at least January. (Now that they're public, we'll REALLY be held accountable!)

1) Exercise 10 days each from Jan 1 -Jan 15 (CHECK! We met this goal, and as a reward, we both get to buy some new running sneakers).
2) Exercise 20 days throughout the month of January. This is either 30 minutes outside of the house or 60 minutes on the Wii Fit.
3) Clean the kitchen sink each night before bed (dishes done, sink free of food scraps, and counters wiped). Oh yeah, we don't have a dishwasher. Otherwise this wouldn't be a problem.
4) Fold and put away the laundry within 30 minutes of it coming out of the dryer. (We need to work a little bit harder on this one because I don't think we've met it once this month).
5) Kate needs to work in the office as opposed to on the couch. (this has not happened ONCE in January because it means I have to clean out the office since it has become the dumping grounds for all of the stuff that we don't know where else to put). I gotta work a little harder on this one...maybe in February?

Cheers to O'Bama!!
